Reiki
What is Reiki?
“If you want to know the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration”
Nikola Tesla
Reiki is a Japanese form of alternative medicine called energy healing. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a universal energy is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing. It is practice toi replenish and rebalance the body, mind and spirit. It is based on qi ("chi"), which means universal life force.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
Reiki is practice in a very quiet and comfortable environment. Clients lay down and the therapy is performed with the client fully clothed. The therapist places their hands lightly on the body, or over the body in a series of locations including the head, torso, legs and feet. In addition, the therapist may place their hands on, or over, any specific areas of pain, discomfort, trauma or injury.
After a session, most people feel both relaxed and rejuvenated. Some other benefits from Reiki range from an improved feeling of wellbeing, lessening of pain and improved mood.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing the client must believe in order to benefit from Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether clients believe in it or not.
"The secret art of inviting happiness
The miraculous medicine of all diseases
Just for today, do not anger
Do not worry and be filled with gratitude
Devote yourself to your work. Be kind to people.
Every morning and evening, join your hands in prayer.
Pray these words to your heart
and chant these words with your mouth"
Usui Mikao (founder of Reiki)
